Bodez Personalized Fitness Center sponsored a 5K Fun Run on Oct. 21benefitting the nonprofit organization Food Brings Hope. Tasso Kiriakes, owner of Bodez, 1140 W. Granada Blvd., spoke about his commitment to helping the homeless and disadvantaged children of Food Brings Hope and presented a $15,000 check to Judi Winch, executive director of the organization.

COA meets the match challenge
In response to the $100,000 match challenge issued by Glenn and Connie Ritchey, the Council on Aging announced recently that the Hurricane Recovery Community Challenge has met the goal. The tally as of Oct. 31 exceeded $250,000, which qualifies COA to collect the full $100,000 match from the Ritcheys. The money will help COA, now working in temporary locations, get back on its feet after its headquarters on Beach Street were damaged in Hurricane Irma.
While most donations came from the local community, one contribution arrived from a Council on Aging in Louisiana, which had suffered similar damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Deeb Joins Ormond Internal Medicine
Ormond Internal Medicine, 279 S. Yonge St., a primary health care provider, announced recently that Nancy Deeb, PA-C, has joined the practice.

FASTSIGNS has new owners
FASTSIGNS of Daytona Beach and the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce held an open house event and ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 18 to celebrate the business’s new franchise owners, Carmen Ruiz and Rod Quick, who have more than 40 years of combined experience. Quick owns FASTSIGNS Apopka, and Ruiz has been on Quick’s staff since 2005. She will manage operations at the Daytona Beach location.

Southern Title president named to state post
The Florida Home Builders Association installed Shelley Stewart as its 44th Second Vice President on Oct. 21 during the FHBA Fall Leadership Conference in Ponte Vedra Beach. Stewart is president of Southern Title in Daytona Beach.
Stewart embarked on her career in the title market in high school as an errand runner for a Daytona Beach company. After earning her license as a title agent and certified land closer, she went into business with two partners in 1995, establishing Southern Title Holding Company, and in 11 years she had over 20 offices.
