Florida Hospital Flagler is ranked as one of the safest hospitals in the United States, as FHF was one of the only hospitals in the area to earn A ratings from The Leapfrog Group in the latest release of Hospital Safety Grades, according to a release.
Florida Hospital DeLand, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial and Florida Hospital Memorial Medical also received A ratings.
The Leapfrog Group assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D and F to hospitals across the nation based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms.

This achievement speaks to our hospitals’ culture of safety and unwavering dedication to providing the very best patient care.”
CareerSource Flagler Volusia is hosting the fifth-annual Paychecks for Patriots Hiring Event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, according to a release.
Paychecks for Patriots is a statewide hiring event created in partnership between the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the Florida National Guard and the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs in an effort to address the employment needs of veterans and military families. The event works to bring employers with current position openings to the table with great military and veteran candidates.
The event will be held at the Elmer J. Hawkins Banquet Hall at 5810 S. Williamson Blvd. in Port Orange. The morning hours, which are reserved for veterans and eligible spouses, are from 10 a.m. to noon. From noon to 2 p.m., the event will be opened for public participation. Twenty-five employers will be at the event.

A shop that will help your backyard become a “fine-dining experience” for the area’s wild birds is coming to Palm Coast, according to a release.
Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop, which has over 300 locations of backyard bird feeding and nature specialty stores, will be located at 250 Palm Coast Parkway in the Island Walk Shopping Center. The store specializes in bringing people and nature together with bird feeding and nature gifts and products, expert advice and educational events.
“We can show you how to bring song, color and life to your backyard bird-feeding habitat, which also benefits the wild birds and the environment around us,” Boorstin said in a release.
The store will open in December and will have a grand-opening event in January.
