‘White Table Ceremony’

When: noon Friday, Nov. 10

Where: Flagler County Library, 2500 Palm Coast Parkway NW

Details: The Flagler County Public Library Palm Coast Branch will hold a “White Table Ceremony” to honor service men and women who are Prisoners of War or Missing in Action. It represents those in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines held prisoner or missing in action from all wars. The table and ceremony script will remain set up at the library through Monday, Nov. 13.

 

Honoring Veterans

When: 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10

Where: Veterans Park, 105 S. 2nd St., Flagler Beach

 Details: Mayor Linda Provencher will introduce the guest speaker: the 2017 Flagler County Veteran of the Year. There will be refreshments following the ceremony in Flagler Beach City Hall Commission Room.

 

Veterans Day ceremony

When: 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11

Where: Heroes Memorial Park, 2860 Palm Coast Parkway

Details: Speakers for the event will be U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, who represents District 6; Col. Jack Howell of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 808; Edward Beier of American Legion Post 115; and Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland. The Palm Coast Fire Department Honor Guard and the Coastal Florida Police & Fire Pipes & Drums will present the colors. If it rains, the ceremony will be held at nearby Fire Station 21 at 9 Corporate Drive.

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11

Where: Ocean Art Gallery, 206 Moody Blvd., Flagler Beach

Details: Acrylic artist Lorraine Millspaugh (a U.S. Navy veteran) will celebrate Veterans Day by live-painting on the sidewalk in front of Ocean Art Gallery, which is owned by U.S. Air Force veteran Frank Gromling.

 

Creekside Festival

When: Saturday, Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 12

Where: Princess Place Preserve, 2500 Princess Place Road

Details: The 13th annual two-day festival costs $7 per carload per day and includes bluegrass and folk music, arts & crafts, a scarecrow decorating contest, beer garden, kids’ zone, hay rides, pony rides, food vendors and more. Visit flaglerchamber.org/pages/creekside-festival.

 

Veterans Day service at Christ Lutheran Church

When: 10-11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12

Where: Christ Lutheran Church, 2323 North State Street (US1), Bunnell

Details: The service will be conducted by Chaplain Harry Gilman (Lt. Col. USA, Retired) assisted by John Johnson, Lay Minister. There will be a procession of flags, including the American Flag and flags representing each branch of the military. At the end of the service, a bugler will sound Taps in memory of those fallen.

 

Veterans Day service at Shepard of the Coast Lutheran Church

When: 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12

Where: Shepard of the Coast Lutheran Church, 101 Pine Lakes Parkway S.

Details: The second-annual event will feature Pastor Rev. William Douthwaite and guest speakers Sheriff Rick Staly, Deputy Chief Forte and Chaplain Schreiber. Call 446-2481.

 

Car seat safety checks

When: 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15

Where: Palm Coast Fire Station 25, 1250 Belle Terre Parkway

Details: The Palm Coast Fire Department will be offering free car seat safety checks. Bring the car seat manual and vehicle owner’s manual, if available. No appointment necessary. For those who are unable to attend the event but would like to arrange a free car seat safety check on a different date, call the Fire Department at 986-2300 to schedule an appointment.

 

Fall Fun Camp

When: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 20-22

Where: Frieda Zamba Pool classroom, 339 Parkview Drive

Details: Students in Kindergarten through sixth grade can enjoy Thanksgiving fun at Palm Coast Parks and Recreation’s Fall Fun Camp. The cost is $25 per day, and extended afternoon hours are available for an additional charge. Register at palmcoastgov.com/camps or in person at the pool office. Campers bring their own lunch and snack.

 

Register for Thanksgiving Feet to Feast 5K

When: 7:55 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23

Where: Flagler/Palm Coast campus of Daytona State College, 3000 Palm Coast Parkway

Details: $25 online and in-person advance registration closes 10 p.m. Nov. 12. In-person registration can be done 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at Frieda Zamba Swimming Pool. Regular registration is $35 from Nov. 13-22. Day-of-the-race registration is $40 (check or cash only) starting at 6:30 a.m. Nov. 23 at the Flagler/Palm Coast campus of Daytona State College. $20 for students K-12. A free Kids Fun Run for ages 6 and younger will be at 8:45 a.m.
