Fire consumes trailer, kills dog

The occupant escaped without injury, according to the Port Orange Fire Department.

The occupant of a trailer fire escaped without injury, but his pet dog was killed in the flames, according Port Orange Fire Chief Ken Fustin. 

The fire happened on Sunday, Nov. 12, around 3 p.m. at 217 Autumn Trail. According to Fustin, the first crews found the fire had engulfed 50% of the trailer. The trailer was a complete loss. 

One Port Orange firefighter was treated for exhaustion at the scene by EMS and was later returned to duty. 

According to Fustin, the cause of the fire has been undetermined due to the extent of the damage.
