Lillian Johnson celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles club in Ormond Beach with one of the things she loves to do most — bingo.
Johnson is originally from Hanson, Massachusetts but spends the winter months down in Ormond. She keeps busy during the week, playing dominoes at Holly Hill on Monday, bingo at Flagler Beach on Tuesday and more bingo on Thursday and Friday in Ormond Beach.
She also danced for many years, listing ballroom dance and line dancing as two that she liked to do when she was younger.
"I have many years of dancing that I thoroughly enjoyed," Johnson said.
Her favorite part of being a century old? That she's made it this far.
"I don't give it any thought," Johnson said, laughing. "I really don't."
Her bingo friends surprised her with a party on her birthday at the Fraternal Order of Eagles club, complete with a cake, balloons and flowers. Johnson loved her surprise and said she was "dumbfounded" her friends would something like that for her.
