Toy drive aims to double donations
The Operation Changing Lives Toy Drive hopes to help 8,000 kids in Volusia and Flagler counties this year.
Ten years ago, the staff at Florida Oral & Facial Surgical Associates started a small initiative to help a few dozen low income families who couldn’t afford Christmas gifts. The staff now partners with 10 schools, and in 2016, they were able to provide toys to 4,000 elementary children in Volusia and Flagler Counties. This year the goal is to double that.
Operation Changing Lives is collecting toys now through Dec. 4. Families can drop off toys at the Daytona Beach office, 549 Health Blvd., or the Palm Cost office, 21 Hospital Drive, Suite 180.
Once all of the toys are collected, the kids will be allowed to go to the Daytona Beach office and pick out the toy they want. Visit operationchanginglives.com.
Solar co-op selects company
The Volusia County Solar Co-op has selected Wayne’s Solar to install solar panels for the 104-member group through a competitive bidding process.
Solar United Neighbors expands access to solar by educating Florida residents about the benefits of distributed solar energy, helping them organize group solar installations, and strengthening Florida’s solar policies and its community of solar supporters. The co-op is open to new members until November 30.
Joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Wayne’s Solar will provide each co-op member with an individualized proposal based on the group rate.

Wedding planner starts business
After years of planning weddings and events for friends and family, Thao Duong started an event planning agency earlier this year, and a chamber ribbon cutting was held for her recently by Port Orange and South Daytona Chamber of Commerce.
“It gets me excited,” she said about pulling all of the details together for a successful event. She and her husband, Jessada Sunhachawi, are both certified through The Bridal Society.
She enjoys helping people create family memories.
“We strive to provide our clients with a fun planning experience while saving them time, money, and most importantly, giving them peace of mind,” she said.
Sunhachawi said his wife is always by the bride’s side, taking care of any issues that arise.
They also help with birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, bridal showers and event planning for businesses.
