17 years and still lost

10:55 p.m. — W. Granada Boulevard and Main Trail

DUI. A 64-year-old woman who told police officers she'd lived in Ormond Beach for 17 "god-forsaken years" was arrested for drunk driving even though she claimed she only had one glass of wine.

Police pulled the woman over after seeing her swerve in and out of the inside lane around the 1000 block of W. Granada Blvd. Once stopped just inside Main Trail, the woman told the officer she was looking for the Moose Lodge and that she lived over the Granada bridge and was not familiar with the area. She then unknowingly contradicted herself when police asked her where she was coming from by saying the Moose Lodge, where she had a single glass of wine.

The police officer asked to see her driver's license and the woman replied "Yes m'am." The police officer who stopped her is male. After the standard field sobriety exercises, the woman was taken into custody and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Disorderly Conduct. A young man was arrested after breaking a glass window in a local motel caused by his anger at the lack of soap in his room.

The 21-year-old Ormond Beach resident came home from work mad and instigated an argument with an 18-year-old woman whom he was sharing the motel room with over not having soap in their bathroom, police reported. The woman told police that he left the room and returned a few minutes later with soap, but still so upset he was yelling at her using profanity. She told him to leave and calm down.

A short while later, the man returned to find himself locked out once again, at which point he began pounding on the door and window demanding to be let in, the latter shattering and cutting him. When police arrived on the scene, the man was cleaning up the glass from the floor.

Loitering. A man and a 16-year-old boy ran into a bit of trouble with the law after hanging around at a property where police believe they intended to commit a crime in.

When asked what they were doing at the residence, the 30-year-old man replied: "I was looking at the property because my mother was thinking about buying it." Police report they had no permission or right to be at the residence and the man could not tell officers the name of the property's owner or anyone associated with the property.

Police concluded they arrived at the residence in question with a criminal purpose, noting that the man and teen did not "act in a manner such as a normal and prudent person would act" when the pair fled the scene while being questioned by a witness.
