Port Orange police officer involved in car accident, taken to hospital

The passenger of the second vehicle was transported to the hospital as well.

A Port Orange police officer was taken to Halifax Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being involved in a car accident. 

According to the Port Orange Police Department, the motor vehicle accident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m on Tuesday, Nov. 21, near the intersection of Madeline Avenue and Nova Road. 

The officer was treated at the hospital and has since been released. 

A passenger in the second vehicle was also transported with what were considered to be non-life threatening injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene and is conducting the crash investigation.
