The Palm Coast City Council proclaims Oct. 8 to 14 as Fire Prevention Week in the City of Palm Coast – and this year’s theme is “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!”
“Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!” reinforces the need for everyone to have an escape plan and the fact that in a fire, seconds count. Seconds can mean the difference between residents of our community escaping safely from a fire or having their lives end in tragedy.
“The Palm Coast Fire Department is dedicated to reducing the occurrences of home fires and home fire injuries through prevention and protection education,” Palm Coast Vice Mayor Steve Nobile said in reading the proclamation at the Palm Coast City Council meeting.
Palm Coast Fire has increased its outreach during Fire Prevention Week and the entire month of October, providing fire protection education talks and demonstrations throughout the community, including all of the area elementary schools. In addition, they are hosting special events at two local McDonalds.
“Fries with a Fireman” is a unique opportunity to bring fire prevention education to the public. Palm Coast firefighters will be on hand to participate in fire prevention activities, and there will also be a fire truck display. The public is encouraged to participate:

Superintendent James Tager tweeted out a good luck message to Crawford a few days before she completed the 26.2 mile race.
On Oct. 9, Imagine School at Town Center held a dress-down day with a favorite-decades theme to raise money for its new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics programs.
Students paid $1 to dress down for the day, raising $343.
The money raised from the previous dress-down day on Sept. 22 was used to purchase marble runs and “shrinky dink” paper for the younger grades. In addition, some of the money was set aside for the future to purchase LEGO EV3 Mindstorms Robotics sets for ISTC middle school students.
Erin Robinson earned the October Matanzas High School Senior of the Month award. Principal Jeff Reaves congratulated her with a certificate.
Robinson has been a part of Leadership Flagler, the National Honor Society and more.
