The Florida Department of Education announced that three Flagler Schools earned the Five Star School Award for the 2016-2017 school year.
Old Kings Elementary, Rymfire Elementary and Flagler Palm Coast High School were recognized with the award.
“It’s a great honor for these three schools, their administrators, teachers, staff and students,” Superintendent James Tager said in a press release. “To earn this designation takes involvement from everyone, including our parents and community as a whole.”
To earn five stars, the school must show it has met the criteria in five categories: Community/Business Partnerships, Family Involvement, Volunteerism, Student Community Service and School Advisory Council. The school must also earn a grade of “C” or higher or a school improvement rating of “Maintaining” or “Commendable.”
School grades were released in June. Old Kings earned an “A," Rymfire earned a “B," and FPC earned a “B.”
