Port Orange Police Department K9 dies

Jax died after complications from an illness, according to authorities.

After more than three years serving on the Port Orange Police Department, police K9 Jax has died. 

The department announced the canine had died after complications from an illness. Jax served the city of Port Orange and its residents, with his handler Officer Richard Clark, from Sept. 20, 2014 until Oct. 15, 2017. 

A memorial service for Jax will be held at the Port Orange Police Department on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 2pm.
