On the third Thursday of every month, at exactly 3 p.m., community members can sit, talk and have tea with residents at the Heritage Waterside Assisted Living Facility through a program called "Tea at 3."

"Tea at 3 is a time to just slow down, catch your breath and build yourself up," Halifax Health Hospice Community Access Liaison Jon Marc Creighton said.

Creighton collaborated with Rev. John T. Long III, of Halifax Health Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives, to start the program, which is intended to foster positivity.

For Heritage Waterside Lifestyle Director Shannon Weston-Jossie, the monthly event is beneficial for the assisted-living community.

"I feel like it's great for residents to come," Weston-Jossie said.

Long said he has been surprised at the willingness and openness of the attendees.

"It brings in new faces and I think, as we saw the last time, it energizes them because they got to be involved with those that were here," Long said. "And it reminds them that if they happen to be here, they're still interacting on a regular basis with people. You still need that interaction."
