Sidelines: Hawks runner Camyrn Cooney repeats as Five Star Conference champion

The Spruce Creek boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Five State Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Hagerty High School. The boys finished in fourth place, and the girls walked away with a victory. Four of the girls finished in the top 10.

Girls:

1st: Camryn Cooney, 18:35

2nd: Sam Gayton, 19:50

4th: Katelyn Murray, 20:59

6th: Haley Rodriguez, 21:32

13th: Payton Megge, 22:04

In addition, Cooney, who repeated as the Five Star's overall champion, was named First Team All Conference along with teammates Gayton, Murray and Rodriguez. Megge and Bailey Nelson were named Second Team All Conference, and Andi Cantlay and Paige Cooksey received All Conference Honorable Mentions.

Boys:

7th: Griffin Cooney, 17:23

9th: Luke Kathman, 17:39

30th: Jacob Rance, 19:10

34th: Tyler Gayton, 19:22

50th: Brent Rerko, 19:54

Griffin Cooney was named to the First Team All Conference, while Kathman earned Second Team All Conference honors.

Hawks boys golf wins District 3A title

Spruce Creek's boys golf team won the District 3A title by one stroke with a total score of 304. All five of the Hawks players broke 80, and the No. 1-spot player finished second individually.

2nd: Andrew Klem, 73

4th: Seth Jolly, 76

5th: Henry Zimmer, 77

6th: John Triplett, 78

7th: Artis Lertkitcharoenpon, 79

Halifax rowing team competes in Gator Head meet

The Halifax rowing team competed in the Gator Head in Gainesville on Sunday, Oct. 22, with the mixed 8+ and women's 4x masters teams capturing gold.

For the juniors, the women's V2x, the middle school mixed 4x earned silver and the mixed 4x all earned silver.

Up next, Halifax Rowing will travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to participate in the Head of the Hooch Regatta in two weeks.
