A new development that is being planned for Port Orange should have a builder by the end of the year, according to officials.

The duplex developer, Geosam Capital, confirmed the project will be happening, but a representative said the company is currently negotiating with a builder for the final contract.

The 64-duplex residential community will be built across from Horizon Elementary School off of Yorktowne Boulevard.

Geosam is the same developer that owns Venetian Bay in New Smyrna Beach.

The Port Orange duplex will be maintenance-free and the complex will have its own association to take care of exterior maintenance, according to a representative.

A contract for the builder is expected to be finalized at the beginning of December.
