'The Giving Store' luncheon set to benefit Flagler County children

Fall Festival/ Christmas Shopping Extravaganza

When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4

Where: Palm Coast VFW, 47 Old Kings Road N.

Details: Many vendors will be on hand to help with shopping gift ideas for the holidays. There will be free giveaways, attendance prizes, special vendor drawings and free samples. Money collected will go to a local Christmas charity.

 

Freedom Fest 2017

When: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5

Where: Flagler Executive Airport, 201 Airport Road, Bunnell

Details: The two-day event will have aircraft and military displays, as well as live music, featuring Hot Stuff (Donna Summer Tribute) and Fleetwood Max (Fleetwood Mac Tribute). There will be a fireworks show Saturday night and a shockwave jet truck. Tickets are $10 advance purchase and $15 at the gate. For more, visit freedomfestflagler.com. Family Life Center to speak at Retired Educators Association meeting

When: 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6

Where: Florida Hospital Flagler, Education Wing

Details: Nicole Jobson, director of operations at Family Life Center, will speak at the Retired Educators Association of Flagler County meeting. Family Life Center works to end domestic and sexual violence in Flagler County. Call Betty at 447-3701.

 

Family Fun Carnival

When: 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5

Where: Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, 915 N. Central Ave., Flagler Beach

Details: Proceeds from the afternoon of rides, games, music and food will support the parish's community outreach projects, which serve those in need throughout Flagler County. Call 439-2791.

 

American Flag Project – Guinness World Record

When: 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5

Where: Flagler Executive Airport

Details: The American Flag Project is looking to make a Guinness World Record for the largest number of people holding American flags in the same place. Minimum donation is $1. Your only “ticket” to participate is an 8” X 12” American stick flag with TheAmericanFlagProject.org label. Pick one up ahead of time at locations around the county or call 986-6484.

 

Giving Store luncheon

When: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8

Where: Hilton Garden Inn, 55 Town Center Blvd.

Details: The luncheon will benefit Flagler Volunteer Services’ “The Giving Store,” which allows Flagler County children who would otherwise be unable to purchase gifts for their families to select free gifts from the store. Veterans appreciation breakfast

When: 7:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9

Where: Grand Haven Golf Club, 500 Riverfront Drive

Details: U.S. Navy Captain, Commodore Dale Maxey will be the keynote speaker at this new event, hosted by Flagler County Chamber of Commerce, to recognize and honor those who have served in the United States military. Tickets are $50. Call 437-0106.
