POPD: Port Orange police officer shot in calf

The incident appears to be accidental, according to authorities.

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, at approximately 11 a.m., a Port Orange police officer was shot in the calf. According to the POPD, the incident appeared to be an accidental, self-inflicted injury while conducting training at the New Smyrna Beach Police Shooting range. 

The Officer is stable and being treated for his injuries at the hospital. The incident is still under investigation, according to authorities.
