Aqua Zumba

Ribbon Cutting at Flagler Playhouse

When: 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8

Where: Flagler Playhouse, 301 East Moody Blvd., Bunnell

Details: Construction for the new box office, concession area and reception lounge will be revealed at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. There will be refreshments and entertainment.

 

Movies in the Park

When: 7:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8

Where: Central Park at Town Center, 975 Central Ave.

Details: This month’s feature will be "Alice Through the Looking Glass" (PG). Bring your blanket, lawn chairs and snacks for this free event. For more information, call 986-2323 or visit palmcoastgov.com/movies.

 

Intracoastal waterway cleanup

When: 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9

Where: Holland Park, 18 Florida Park Drive

Details: The 10th annual cleanup will start at Holland Park, where supplies will be distributed. After the cleanup and trash drop-off, participants will be invited back to Holland Park for refreshments and an awards ceremony to recognize those who find the most unique “trash.” Participants can register the day of the event at Holland Park, but supplies are limited.

 

Free film screening: “A Ballerina’s Tale”

When: noon Saturday, Sept. 9

Where: Matanzas Pirate Theater, 3535 N. Old Kings Road

Details: Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for the free screening of the documentary film “A Ballerina’s Tale” in honor of National Arts in Education Week, hosted by Palm Coast Arts Foundation. The documentary depicts the rise of Misty Copeland, the first female African-American principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre.

 

Night Tours

When: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9

Where: Linear Park, 31 Greenway Court

Details: Children 7 and up and adults will explore the parks by flashlight and see the variety of animals that only come out at night. Please bring a flashlight. This free program will change location for each session; the second session will be Sept. 30. Those interested must pre-register by 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at palmcoastgov.com/register. Grand Variety Concert

When: 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10

Where: Matanzas High School Pirate Theater, 3535 N. Old Kings Road

Details: Music will range from classical to religious, featuring vocalist Kassy Eugene and maestro violinist Jose Curbelo. The concert is sponsored by the Blessed Hope Seniors Association of the Palm Coast Seventh-day Adventist Church. Tickets are available at the door: $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Money raised from tickets will help fundraise for scholarships.

 

9/11 Fallen Heroes Memorial Service

When: 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11

Where: Heroes Memorial Park, 2860 Palm Coast Parkway

Details: The ceremony will include speakers, music, a bell ceremony and a moment of remembrance to honor the emergency responders killed on Sept. 11, 2001. For more information, call 986-2300.

 

Adult Open Gym Volleyball

When: 7-9:30 p.m. Mondays or Wednesdays, Sept. 11-Dec. 6

Where: Indian Trails Middle School, 5505 N. Belle Terre Parkway

Details: The co-ed volleyball open gym creates new teams weekly. Teams rotate in and out of play. One net is for competitive style play and the second net is for recreational style play. $20 for either session. Register at palmcoastgov.com/register. For more information, call 986-2323.

 

Calling all singers

When: 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12

Where: Trinity Presbyterian Church, 156 Florida Park Drive

Details: The Community Chorus of Palm Coast is looking for singers in every vocal section to start rehearsing for the Holiday Concert. Rehearsals start on Sept. 12. Class for seniors with diabetes

Details: A free six-week class will be held at the George Wickline Senior Center in Flagler Beach. The class will be held from 2-4:30 p.m. on the dates above. Pre-registration is required.
