In preparation for Hurricane Irma, the city of Palm Coast is making sand and sandbags available for residents at several locations, according to a Palm Coast city government news release.
The bags quickly ran out — the city went through about 10,000 by the night of Sept. 5 — but the city still has sand and has encouraged residents to bring heavy duty garbage bags (or to double-layer standard bags) to fill with sand.
Palm Coast sand stations are self-serve: Residents should bring their own shovels and be prepared to fill their own bags.
