Volusia County currently has 33 shelters which will be open for Hurricane Irma. If you're planning to stay in the area and ride out the storm at a local shelter, here's a list separated by city so you and your family can make the best decision.

Pine Trail Elementary School
Where: 300 Airport Road
Details: This is a pet-friendly shelters. People and animals will be housed in separate locations within the shelter.

Ormond Middle School
Where: 151 Domicilio Ave.
When: 10 a.m. Saturday.
Champion Elementary
Where: 921 Tournament Drive
Details: This is a pet-friendly shelters. People and animals will be housed in separate locations within the shelter.

Hinson Middle School
Where: 1860 N. Clyde Morris Blvd.
Details: This is a pet-friendly shelters. People and animals will be housed in separate locations within the shelter.

Palm Terrace Elementary
Where: 1825 Dunn Ave.
Details: This is also a Special Needs shelter and will assist people with disabilities or functional medical needs. This particular shelter has children's medical services. It's also pet-friendly. Service animals will be kept with the evacuees.
