Good morning from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Kodi, Buddy, Samantha, Rosie and I traveled all day on Thursday to where we decided to wait and see what Hurricane Irma is going to do. Oh, hubby, Mark is with us too.
There were half a dozen electric company trucks in the parking lot when I went to sleep last night. I was lulled to sleep with the “beep-beep” of more trucks backing into parking spots. When I woke this morning the parking lot was filled with these trucks, and I know, these are the people that will help restore power to Florida after Hurricane Irma is done.
What I didn’t know was most of these workers have traveled from Quebec.
“We have 29 teams from Holland Quebec,” Simon Robbichaud said. Robbichaud, thankfully, speaks English better than I speak French.
There are at least two members per team. So, nearly 60 people, from this one company alone, were going toward the storm.
Robbichaud and another worker, Simon Roy, (I was assured they are all not named Simon) were enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Roy said they will probably to Brunswick Georgia today -- to wait.
We are in good hands if this is a representation of the help en-route. This team is trained for disasters – they have responded to the aftermath of other events, including, Hurricane Sandy.
“I’ve never said, “merci” so much in my life.
