Volusia County has ended the daytime curfew, but a countywide curfew is still in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. due to power outages, flooding, and damage to homes and businesses. This curfew will stay in effect until further notice. Law enforcement will use discretion when encountering people out at night.
Residents are asked to stay inside on Monday, Sept. 11. Many businesses remain closed. Public works and electric company workers will be out later today as the wind and rain subsides. Residents staying off the road will assist these workers to get their work done.
All of the bridges in Volusia County have been reopened.
Power outages as of 9 a.m., Monday, Sept.11:

· Duke Energy: 66,000 customers
· New Smyrna Beach Utilities: 26,000 customers
· Clay Electric: 1,893 customers out of 2,101 customers

County Government and Volusia County Schools
· County government offices and facilities will be closed Tuesday.
· Schools are closed Tuesday.
· County parks and beaches remain closed. There is debris on the beach
and in the water. Beach officials are flying the double-red flag and
there should be no water activity. People should not walk on the beach
due to potential hazards. There also is a high rip current risk.
Weather update
· According to the National Weather Service, Hurricane Irma continues
to become disorganized.
· The storm is moving 18 miles per hour north, northwest
· The wind fields remain expansive. It will take some time for winds to
subside today. Volusia County is still projected to receive strong wind
gusts through the day.
· Rainfall we’ve received is 8-12 inches, with some areas seeing
higher amounts.
· There is a chance for additional rainfall today from scattered
showers and storms
· Flood stage is forecast or has been reached along the St Johns River.
Astor has reached moderate flood level. River levels are forecast to
fall to or remain steady at minor flood stage through the rest of the
week.
· Due to power outages and excessive storm water from the hurricane,
residents who are connected to city sewer systems should try to refrain
from adding wastewater into the sewer system.
· Residents should help conserve and minimize water use – hold off on
showering/bathing, doing laundry and flushing toilets.

· For fire rescue or emergency medical assistance, call 911.
· To report damage to your home, people can submit information through
the Volusia County Emergency Management app.
· For assistance or if you have been impacted by Hurricane Irma, people
can call the Citizen Information Center at 866-345-0345.

· If you see damage to public facilities building/structure, please
report it to the Citizens Information Center at 866-345-0345.
Safety after the storm
· People should stay home today and let the winds and rain subside.
· If using a generator, use it safely.
· If you have to be out, be aware the ground is saturated and there are
many downed trees.
· Traffic signals are out at many intersections. Motorists who come to
an intersection with no signals should treat it as a 4-way stop.
Boil water notices
· There is a boil water notice for the Town of Pierson. Residents
should:
1. Boil water before drinking by holding it at a rolling boil for one
minute; and
2. Disinfect it by adding 8 drops (about 1/8 teaspoon) of unscented
household bleach per gallon of water, and then let it stand for 30
minutes. It the water is cloudy after 30 minutes, repeat the procedure.
3. Use only bottled water for mixing baby formula.
