With the passing of Hurricane Irma, the city of Palm Coast began pumping the wastewater sewage system on Monday, Sept. 11, according to a release.

Because of the amount of stormwater and widespread power outages, the system is taxed.

The wastewater sewer system cannot move sewage to the treatment plant without electricity. Tank trucks started pumping down the system Monday, and additional generators are being used by the utility department to help power lift stations without permanent generators.

Whether you have electricity or not, the city is urging all residents to limit water usage, especially residents with PEP tanks.
