Port Orange’s new Cumberland Farms is giving back to a local school now that the convenience store has celebrated its grand opening.

The store, located at 3803 Clyde Morris Blvd., is giving 10 cents from every dispensed beverage purchased at the new location to Atlantic High School. The fundraiser was kicked off at the Wednesday, Sept. 6 ribbon-cutting event and will continue for four weeks.

“Every time we open a new store or remodel a store we do a fundraiser for a nonprofit or school,” Bryan Pierce, Cumberland Farms marketing associate, said. “We want to give back to the local community and it really is on a local level.”

Cumberland Farms has given back more than $25,000 to local schools and nonprofits through the fundraisers in the last four years.

Pierce said that in terms of store location, the company has been looking to expand in Florida. This is the first Cumberland Farms store in Port Orange and another one is expected to open at the end of this month.

The new concept store has an interior high-top bar counter, 19 parking spaces and eight fueling pumps. The brand owns and operates more than 50 stores throughout Florida, with 29 of them currently being new concept stores like the one opened on Clyde Morris Boulevard.

This opening is also part of a multiyear remodeling initiative, which began in 2009 and includes an “overhaul of all of the brand’s stores by incorporating a modernized architecture and design, new food items like pizza, fried favorites, and hot sandwiches, as well as upgrades like additional square footage, high-top bar counters, outdoor patio seating, and additional parking spaces and gas pumps,” according to Cumberland Farms officials.
