The Palm Coast Fire Department donated personal protective equipment and gear to be used during training by future firefighters at the new Fire Academy at Flagler Palm Coast High School, according to a press release.
The air pack training equipment will be used to teach students how to properly wear critical firefighting gear. It is not for live-fire training but rather for firefighting tasks such as search and rescue and gear drills.
“Our department is proud to work with Flagler Schools to help train the future generation of firefighters in our community,” Palm Coast Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Forte said in the release. “These students are learning the basic fundamentals of firefighting and now have the proper personal protective equipment to give them the reality of the job.”
