While people took various methods to get out of the way of Hurricane Irma, some evacuated in style. Mike Denning, owner of Elegant Limousines, said he got a few calls from people up north before the hurricane, worried about their elderly relative. Denning arranged to pick them up in a limousine and take them to the airport.
Denning and his wife, Marlo, recently celebrated their move into their new location at 1450 N. Nova Road with a joint ribbon cutting by the Ormond Beach and Holly Hill chambers of commerce.
The company offers limos for weddings, nights on the town, or travel to airports, cruises, events, etc. Marlo Denning said people are sometimes surprised to learn that a limousine can be reserved for only a few hours.
Mike Denning said they only moved from their Ormond Beach location because they needed more room for their growing business. He is a mechanic, while his wife has a background as a certified nursing assistant. He believes this makes them the perfect team with him caring for the vehicles and Marlo taking care of customers.
They started the business 11 years ago in Flagler County, borrowing money to buy and restore a limousine. They now have a fleet of seven vehicles.
He said they decided to start the business after trying to rent a limo themselves, and finding the prices high and customer service low. They decided to start a business more pocket book and customer friendly.
