Mary Lynn Realty has moved into refurbished offices, and the event was celebrated by a joint ribbon cutting with the Daytona Beach and Port Orange South Daytona chambers of commerce on Sept. 20.
The realty office was completely destroyed in a fire a year ago, and the agency operated in a space in the same shopping plaza until the building could be restored including new walls, windows, flooring and doors.
“It feels very spacious and luxurious,” said Mary Lynn, broker, who has been in local real estate since 1980.
The fire was caused by a power surge after hours and gutted the building. “I didn’t even have a paper clip,” Lynn said.
Now she has all new office equipment in the business where they manage 300 rental properties in addition to selling real estate. Visit marylynnrealty.com.
Manufacturers show their talents
Local manufacturers can make connections and show their skills at the Manufacturers Showcase on Sept. 29 at the ERAU ICI Center, 521 S. Clyde Morris Blvd. The annual event, set for 1-7 p.m., is sponsored by the Volusia Manufacturers Association.
More than 100 manufacturers and vendors will show off their products, services and capabilities. There will be a robotics competition, CNC and 3D art show, education row and a job placement center, according to vmaonline.com. Attendance is free.
Port Orange Chamber announces hire
Leslie Layton, who worked as news director for Black Crow Radio for six years, has joined the Port Orange South Daytona Chamber of Commerce as the new community and events manager.
President Debbie Connors believes her background will be a strong addition.
“Leslie has very strong communications skills,” Connors said. “And she has excellent knowledge of the community.”
Layton, who has been on her new job since Labor Day, worked in radio news in Richmond, Virginia, for several years before coming to the area. She plans to utilize social media in messaging with members of the chamber and to tell the story of the chamber’s success. She sees a similarity in reaching local radio audiences and chamber members.
“It’s all about focusing on local messaging,” she said. “I’m looking forward to meeting all of the members who make this organization tick.”
Layton replaced the former director of member services. Visit pschamber.com.
