Imagine School Town Center held a crazy-hair-themed dress-down day on Sept. 22. Students paid $1 to participate, and the money raised will go toward the new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) programs. There are two new STEAM labs: one for grades K-5 and one for middle school. To see other photos from the day, look in the gallery above.
The International Baccalaureate Class of 2019 from Flagler Palm Coast High School is planning a trip to Argentina during spring break to enrich their cultural awareness and education. About 50 students, some chaperones and the Spanish teacher, Mr. Per Berg, are planning to go on this trip. The cost is about $2,000 per student due to flights and cultural excursions. The students are planning to stay with families of high school students, like during a foreign exchange program. But they need the community’s help to raise a total of $100,000 for the trip.

Ocean Art Gallery is celebrating sea turtles in October with an art gala, art raffles and an update on nest hatching results. All events will take place at the gallery, located at 206 Moody Blvd., Flagler Beach. In partnership with Gamble Rogers State Park and the Friends of Gamble Rogers, the multi-event month will benefit FROGRS, a local nonprofit.
The gallery will start the celebration on Friday, Oct. 6 from 5-8 p.m. with a showing of sea turtle art by nine artists, accompanied by live music and light refreshments.
All during October, the gallery and FROGRS will sell raffle tickets for “Coming Home,” a giclée by acrylic artist Fred Haase, and “Golden Girl,” an original by watercolor artist Bibi Gromling. All proceeds from raffle ticket sales will go to FROGRS. There will be raffle drawings at 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 27 during the Art Gala Finale.
The finale will feature an end-of-season sea turtle nesting report on the number of nests and hatchlings by a Gamble Rogers park ranger, plus a continuous showing of sea turtle pictures on a large-screen television.
The gallery will donate 10% of all sea turtle art sales during October to FROGRS in support of the volunteers’ activities at the park.
