Deputies arrested Angelo Thomas Walsh on Thursday, March 29, after Walsh led deputies on a chase, according to a charging affidavit released by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy spotted the 35-year-old Palm Coast resident driving a silver Acura westbound on East Moody Boulevard. Due to past run-ins with Walsh, the deputy knew Walsh was driving without a license, which had been suspended in 2016. The deputy followed Walsh, but the vehicle “began changing lanes and driving aggressively,” blowing through several red lights, eventually causing the deputy to lose sight of Walsh’s vehicle, according to the report. However, another deputy said that he was on East Moody Boulevard near Commerce Parkway deploying stop sticks. The other deputy said the vehicle was traveling between 80-90 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone, according to the report. The chase eventually went through North Palmetto Street and then west onto East Howe Street. After rolling through a stop sign near East Moody Boulevard and North Fig Street, deputies saw front passenger Lisa Stoia, 36, of Palm Coast, jump out of the moving vehicle. Stoia told deputies she was kidnapped by Walsh. She was later taken to the Investigative Services Division, where it was found out that she was lying.
An officer from the Flagler Beach Police Department reported seeing the vehicle drive into Capri Trailer Park, where four occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the nearby woods. The officer reported that he heard what appeared to have been a gunshot coming from the area.
A perimeter was established, and firefighters and K9 responded.
Walsh was apprehended in the woods by a law enforcement react team with the assistance of K9. A FCIC/NCIC check revealed his driver’s license had been indefinitely revoked Aug. 11, 2016.
He was charged with grand theft auto, driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest without violence, reckless driving and aggravated flee and elude.
He is being held at the Flagler County Inmate Facility without bond.
