To show his support of Flagler County Sheriff’s Office's communications specialists during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, Sheriff Rick Staly will work as a 9-1-1 dispatcher from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, April 9, according to an FCSO news release.

Staly refers to the dispatchers as “the invisible heroes.”

Telecommunications Week is marked during the second week in April each year to show gratitude to 9-1-1 call takers, communications specialists and other public safety communications staff, according to the news release.

“These dedicated individuals are the first ones on the line during someone’s worst hour,” Staly said, according to the news release. “They remain calm and reassure the caller that help is on the way. I would like to express our greatest thanks to these men and women, and also to our community and our public safety partners for joining us to thank them for all that they do.”

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office thanks Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Palm Coast, Samuel Royer with Heroes First Home Loans, Terranovas Pizzeria, and the local police and fire departments for hosting the Communication’s Center employees during this commemorative week, according to the news release.
