A Daytona Beach woman was arrested on Friday, April 13, on charges of child abuse and battery, according to the Port Orange Police Department.

Julie Carter, 62, had been hired as a juvenile caregiver from Maxim Health Care to take care of a 12-year-old boy in Port Orange who is disabled. She had been his caretaker for approximately three years.

Surveillance video from the home showed Carter striking, grabbing, kicking and pushing the child during her four-hour period at the house.

Carter told authorities she had been employed with Maxim Health Care for approximately five years.

Carter was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond.
