Det. Christopher Bingham receives Victim Services Coalition 7th Judicial District Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award

The award was a result of Bingham’s investigation of sexual abuse against a child.

On Friday, April 13, Det. Christopher Bingham was awarded the Victim Services Coalition 7th Judicial District Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award.

The Port Orange Police Department stated that the award was a result of Det. Bingham’s investigation of sexual abuse against a child and the additional steps he took to ensure the safety of the child.

According to a press release, "Bingham worked tirelessly to find hotel accommodations for the victim and family, despite it being race week and even offering to use his own money to do so," a press release stated. The perseverance and compassion displayed by Det. Bingham demonstrates the core values of not only of the Port Orange Police Department but, the profession as a whole."
