Sandcrabs tennis player signs with Division I school
Seabreeze senior Elizabeth Gibbons will be playing Division I tennis for the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. In addition to being the No. 1 player on Seabreeze's tennis team, Gibbons is academically in the top 4% of her graduating class and is vice president of the National Honor Society, president of Florida Future Educators of America and a graduate of the highly selective Tomorrow Leaders Program, from the FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools.
Halifax Rowing competes in Sculling State Championships
The Halifax Rowing junior team headed to Sarasota on April 14 for the Sculling State Championships. Here are the results:
Ben Herstein (senior - Mainland) and Bret Bay (senior - Seabreeze) finished sixth overall in the varsity men's double. Vince Leffler (junior - Spruce Creek) and Zack Stapleton (senior - Seabreeze), competing in the men's lightweight double, finished .2 seconds out of the finals and 6th in overall time. Julia Van Cleef (junior - Spruce Creek), Brooke Bell (junior - Spruce Creek), Elisa Maneke (junior - Spruce Creek) and Emma Dominguez (sophomore - Spruce Creek) finished in 15th place in the girls junior 4x and Thomas Spelmans (freshman - Seabreeze), Eli Coleman (sophomore - Seabreeze), Dylan Anderson (sophomore - Seabreeze) and Armeen Khazree (freshman - Spruce Creek) finished in 17th place in the boys junior 4x.
