A Million Dollar Gala, hosted by the Port Orange Family Days Community Trust, will help raise funds for active duty military families and celebrate past fundraising efforts. The event was created to commemorate the milestone of the Community Trust giving back $1 million to the community.
The gala will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, 352 South Nova Road.

Inaugural Riverfest on the Halifax planned for Riverwalk Park
The Port Orange Riverfest on the Halifax will take place at the new Riverwalk Park, 3431 S. Ridgewood Ave., in Port Orange on Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6. A Land and Sea Dinner will kick off the activities on Friday before an ice cream social and entertainment by Steel Daddy.
Saturday's events begin with a 5K, followed by a stand-up paddle board race beginning. There will also be vendors, entertainment and food trucks in the park while a splash pad, water slide and rock climbing wall will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday's events will include a motorcycle show, vendors, a cornhole contest and music throughout the afternoon.

Just Us Girls event to include free giveaway
Residents can get a jump start on Mother's Day during the free Just Us Girls Swag Bag event where the first 50 attendees will receive a free swag bag. The customer appreciation event will include free raffle tickets, refreshments and the opportunity to browse different vendors under one roof.
The event will be held 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at 5810 S Williamson Blvd.

Getting in shape with group walk and run
The Running Elements will be hosting a free walk or run event at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, at the Port Orange Pavilion, 5521 S. Williamson Blvd.
Attendees can get in some extra steps on the half-mile path around the lake. The casual meetup allows for participants to go at their own pace and distance. Strollers and children are welcome to join. A certified running coach will also be out to support and answer questions.

Four-piece classic rockers band to play in Port Orange
The four-piece classic rock Cat. 4 Band will take to the stage at the Port Orange Eagle Club, 5130 S. Ridgewood Ave., at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27.
Attendees can enjoy a meal, beverages and get the chance to dance the night away during the four-hour event.

Dulcimer Society to perform at library
The New Smyrna Beach Dulcimer Society will perform a variety of traditional music from standard fiddle tunes to Celtic reels and Stephen Foster classics at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle.
The free concert is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
