As a deputy drove him to jail on charges of grand theft and criminal mischief, a Palm Coast man threatened to kill the deputy — calling him a "pig" and the N-word, although the deputy is white — and threatened to kill Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly and blow up the Sheriff's Office.

"Maybe I want to kill a cop right now," suspect Raymond Crown, 52, said to the deputy as the deputy took him to the jail. "I'm going to get a garbage can of ammonium nitrate and blow up the f---in' Sheriff's station with some grenades and go in there with my AR-15 and kill as many pigs as I can before I commit suicide by cop. ...  I'll go down on the world news tonight in every country. You like that idea? I like that idea. I think that's a brilliant idea. ... Rick Staly's gotta go. It's time for a new sheriff. That's the first f---in' thing I'm gonna kill."

Later, Crown said to the deputy, "It'll do nothing better to make my day than to f---in' slaughter your a--, you f---in' (N-word)" according to his arrest report.

Crown has been additionally charged with two counts of threatening law enforcement and one count of threatening to place a destructive device.

Deputies are still investigating Crown's threats but do not believe Crown owns firearms, according to a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

Crown's arrest came after someone called the Sheriff's Office at 8:21 a.m. April 25 to report criminal mischief at 6024 N. Oceanshore Blvd., a trailer park.

The victim in that case, 49-year-old Palm Coast resident Harold Bourgeois, said he was awoken by a neighbor who'd seen someone break a back window to Bourgeois' trailer.

Bourgeois told deputies he went outside and saw a man he recognized as Robert Brandon, 48, stabbing Bourgeois' truck tires with a pocket knife. Brandon then punched the truck's window, cracking it, Bourgeois said.

Bourgeois said he then saw another man — Crown — grab two Stihl chainsaws from the back of Bourgeois' pickup. Brandon shouted at Bourgeois, "This is war. You shouldn't have f---ed with me," and Crown yelled at Bourgeois, "Get out of your f---in' house you Mexican piece of s---," according to Bourgeois.

Crown then grabbed a bicycle that was on the property and threw it against Bourgeois' trailer, damaging the trailer door, Bourgeois said.

A third man who was with Crown and Brandon — later identified as 22-year-old Darnell Hyppolite —backed away, saying he wanted nothing to do with this, according to Bourgeois.

The neighbor who'd alerted Bourgeois said he was calling the cops. He gave deputies the tag number of the Jeep Utility that Crown, Brandon and Hyppolite had traveled in, and a deputy stopped the Jeep at Palm Coast Parkway and Colbert Lane. The two Stihl chainsaws were in the passenger seat.

Crown admitted to going to Bourgeois' home to confront him. The pocket knife, he told the deputy, was in the Jeep's glove box.

The deputy took it as evidence.

Brandon — who is listed as residing at the same Flamingo Drive, Palm Coast, address as Crown — resisted when a deputy tried to arrest him, refusing to place hims hands behind his back, according to the arrest report.

When he was questioned about the broken windows on Bourgeois' trailer, he told a deputy that Crown had broken them. A deputy also found a pocket knife in Brandon's pocket.

Crown said that "this incident occurred because, during a previous incident, (Bourgeois) kicked the side of (Crown's) vehicle and a dog was allegedly shot with a BB gun after being sent after someone," according to the arrest report.

The total value of the damage to Bourgeois' trailer was about $1,400, according to the report. The two stolen chainsaws were valued at $550-$750 each.

Deputies charged Crown and Brandon with felony criminal mischief and also charged Crown with grand theft and Brandon with resisting arrest without violence.

Crown was arrested on a domestic violence charge in March 2010 and on a trespassing charge in March 2018. Brandon has had prior arrests dating back to 2007 on charges including burglary, battery, trespassing, aggravated battery domestic violence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery, habitual driving on a suspended license and cocaine possession.

“We will not take threats of any kind lightly,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a news release. “Threatening to blow up buildings or kill law enforcement officers for doing their job will not be tolerated. Just this Tuesday, we had funeral services for two Florida deputies that were murdered while eating lunch. Threatening or attacking us will only get you taken to the Green Roof Inn quicker.”

Crown is being held at the Flagler County jail with no bond, and Brandon is held on a $3,000 bond, according to the news release.
