A 41-year-old Orlando woman was bicycling south on a trail near State Road A1A in the Hammock area Aug. 6 when she saw a man lying motionless on his back beside the trail.

She doubled back to check on him and called 9-1-1, and Flagler County Fire Department personnel from Station 41 and Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the scene near 5485 N. Oceanshore Boulevard at about 5:34 p.m.

Responders tried to revive the man, but could not do so. They identified him by his Florida ID card as Christopher Lawhon, a 30-year-old resident of Coral Reef Court in Palm Coast.

The deputy who filled out a report on the case for the Sheriff's Office noted, "I was not able to identify any immediate trauma to the body causing further suspicious circumstances. Investigative services were contacted to respond to the scene."

Deputies collected his belongings as evidence, and spoke to a cashier at the Shell has station on State Road A1A where Lawhon had been before he was found on the trail.

The medical examiner took Lawhon's body to Saint Augustine.
