Three men charged with murder in unrelated cases appeared in court in Flagler County for pretrial hearings Aug. 11 and have been scheduled for future court appearances.
Nathaniel Shimmel, 23, is charged with with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his mother, Michele Shimmel, at their Woodhollow Lane, Palm Coast home last August. He will appear before judge Circuit Judge Terence Perkins on Oct. 9 for a pretrial hearing. He is represented by Raymond Warren, a public defender.
Joseph Colon, 35, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the overdose death of 23-year-old Front Street, Palm Coast resident Savannah DeAngelis in November 2017. He is accused of selling her fentanyl-laced heroin and has been charged under a 2017 state law that lets drug dealers be charged with murder if their buyer dies of an overdose. He is scheduled to appear before Perkins for a pretrial on Oct. 30. He is represented by Orlando-based attorney Gustavo Padron.
Michael Cummings, 46, is charged with premeditated murder in the beating death of his wife Faith Cummings in their Point Pleasant Drive, Palm Coast home on Feb. 11. He will appear before Perkins for a pretrial hearing on Oct. 30. He is represented by Raymond Warren.
