Deputies interrupted a burglary in-progress on the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 13, making three arrests, according to a news release by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Law enforcement arrived at Riverina Drive at 6:08 p.m. Monday after a neighbor who was caring for the residence while the owners were out called 911 after hearing what sounded like breaking glass. Deputies observed a broken window on the side of the home and immediately established a perimeter.

After deputies ordered occupants out of the home, three suspects exited the home and were taken into custody without incident. The suspects had piled items by the door to remove from the home.

Two of the suspects were female juveniles: Chelsey Hairston, 16, of Palm Coast, and Madison Mabry, 15, who had been reported missing from Ormond Beach. The third suspect, 18-year-old Dezmon Kearse, is from Daytona Beach.

Kearse was booked in to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility under no bond. He has an adult criminal history starting in January 2017. The arrest is Kearse’s third this year.

The juvenile offenders were processed at the Detention Facility and released to their parents as directed by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

“This is a great example of neighbors watching out for each other and a caller ‘seeing something, hearing something and saying something,’" Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release.  “Our deputies were quick to respond and catching them in the act ending their criminal activity.”
