Don't forget the umbrella this Labor Day weekend.

Storms in the Atlantic are forming as hurricane season reaches its peak.

Tony Hurt, meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said there is a 40% chance of rain through Sunday evening. Rain chances will increase into Labor Day with a 50 to 60% chance of rain.

Unorganized clouds and showers known as a tropical wave developed north of the Dominican Republic and will spread into the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend. Hurt said there is a 10% chance the wave will develop into a cyclone over the next five days.

Tropical Depression 6 formed off the coast of Africa and traveling west. There is an 80% chance it will grow, but Hurt said it should not reach land.

Volusia County Beaches announced it will close vehicle ramps during high tide, which will be midday during the weekend. Beach safety officials also said beachgoers should seek shelter immediately if they see lightning during thunderstorms this weekend.
