Victim tracks down phone

6:17 p.m. — First Block of Magnolia Avenue

Grand Theft. The victim said someone stole his i-Phone X from the locker room at the YMCA while he was in the shower. He had left it wrapped in a towel on a bench.

Using “Find my Phone” app on a friend’s phone, he tracked his phone to a car parked on Magnolia Avenue. Calling his number, he saw his phone illuminate on the seat of the car.

The car owner, attending a nearby event, approached his car when he saw police. He said he was in the locker room, sat by the towel while changing and then took the towel by accident. He said he heard the phone ringing when he arrived at the event so he took it out of his gym bag, planning to return it later.

The officer placed the suspect under arrest after noting that he did not make an attempt to find the owner and did not have the towel, which contradicted his story.

The phone was valued at $1,000.

Someday your prints will come

12:22 p.m. — 1300 Block of West Granada Boulevard

Larceny. The store employee saw the suspect place a nail gun in a shopping cart. The suspect then walked to the rear of the store, took the nail gun out of the box, and placed it in a tool bag that was part of the nail gun kit. After passing all points of sale, the suspect ran after being confronted.

A police officer processed the nail gun box for prints and obtained elimination prints from employees who had touched the box. A photo of the suspect from security footage was sent out with an “attempt to identify” bulletin.
