Deputies responded after a fight broke out near Woodpecker Lane and Cardinal Lane in Flagler Beach on Monday, Feb. 5, according to a charging affidavit released by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Witnesses told deputies “there were multiple people fighting and blood everywhere,” according to the report. Deputies found a man stumbling in the middle of Woodpecker Lane, bleeding from the mouth and forehead. He was involved in an altercation at 605 Snowbird Lane with Anthony Anzalone and Bryan Griggs.
Anzalone told deputies that someone was trying to break into his trailer from the front door. He said he pushed the man out of the door and fell to the ground with him.
Griggs told deputies that he was inside the trailer with Anzalone and the man’s girlfriend. He said Anzalone was asleep when the man came to the front door. In addition, he said Anzalone told the man to leave when he came back a second time and tried to shut the door, but the man attempted to keep the door open and the two men fell out of the doorway and began fighting. Griggs said he pulled them apart.
The man told deputes he was trying to speak with his girlfriend, who was inside the trailer at the time. He said Anzalone exited the trailer with a knife and chased him back to his own residence at Cardinal Lane. He said he was afraid Anzalone was going to attack him. The man then observed Anzalone slash the passenger’s side tires of his vehicle. The man returned to speak with his girlfriend, but this time, the man said, Anzalone slammed the man’s head into the bumper of a car in the driveway and knocked him down. He said Anzalone and Griggs began kicking him in the head and body.
Deputies noted the man suffered multiple cuts inside his mouth and a large laceration above his left eye that needed sutures.
The man’s girlfriend told deputies she was asleep during the first altercation. She sad the man tried to push his way into the trailer, leading to the second altercation.
Anzalone and Griggs were taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility and were charged with aggravated battery. Anzalone was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief.
