As fathers twirled their daughters around on the dance floor, it was easy to see they knew they'd only get to do this for so long before their little girls were all grown up.
Savoring every moment, fathers held their daughters close during the Old Kings Elementary father-daughter dance on Thursday, Feb. 8.
Nick Schell, OKES assistant principal, said that the school had a father-daughter dance two and three years ago, but not last year. Profits will benefit the OKES Positive Behavior System program, which encourages and teaches respect, responsibility and safety.
"This is wonderful," Schell said. "What makes it even greater is my daughter is here too."
Kindergarten teacher Teresa Rizzo helped students pick out flowers with their dads at a table in the cafeteria.
She said the turnout of about 400 people was more than the school has ever had for this dance.
"I just think more fathers are getting more involved with their kids," Rizzo said.
She added that the school plans on holding a mother-son game night closer to Mother's Day.
