Each grade level at Buddy Taylor Middle School chose a student of the month who exemplifies the SOAR message of Staying positive, Organized, Achieving goals and Respecting themselves and others.
Principal John Fanelli, Assistant Principal Denise Harshbarger and Flagler Schools Executive Director of Student and Community Engagement Lynette Shott piled up in a car to surprise the BTMS scholars with a sign for their front yard, certificate, bumper sticker and a future lunch with the principal. The recipients were Taylor Norwood, Joseph Letremouille, Anniel Buchanan, De’Nacia Lewis, James Colandrea, Kyla Kremmerer, Victoria Wilcox, Aidan Allen and Nymera Smith.
Harshbarger said the staff will be surprising the next set of Eagles on Feb. 22.
Wadsworth Elementary Kiwanis-Kids made Valentine cards for homeless people in Flagler County in the hopes of bringing joy to them and to let them know they care. WES teacher Valerie Sanson said that First United Methodist Church in Bunnell and a Homeless Sandwich Mission are will be the contact spots for distribution of the valentines.
In a general assembly with almost 200 members present, the new Board of Directors for the Portuguese American Cultural Center in Palm Coast was presented on Jan. 10.

The Old Kings Elementary School girls basketball team played a game against each other at Flagler Palm Coast High School on Tuesday, Feb. 6. The OKES chorus sang the National Anthem and performed two songs during halftime.
Wadsworth Elementary students have been preparing to have a “Lemonade War” to raise money for the Flagler Humane Society. Students had to research recipes, experiment, use math skills to find out what is most cost effective, advertise and more. They sold their lemonade during recess and are donating all the profits to the Flagler Humane Society. In one week, the students raised $198.60.
“How to Eat Crow and Say, ‘Yum Yum!’” was written by Palm Coast resident Chrysse Lytton Langley. The handbook provides simple solutions for some of the biggest customer service issues. Kathy and Jim Booth of Palm Coast announce the engagement of their daughter and former Palm Coast resident, Carrie Renee (Haddix) White to Brian David Dantzler of Morgantown, West Virginia. Brian was a loyal and caring family friend when Brian and Carrie met. Their friendship grew as they found they share the common interest of farms and animals. Brian proposed on the family farm right after gathering the eggs and feeding the horses. Carrie, also the daughter of John and Betsy Haddix of Grafton, West Virginia, is currently employed as a sales and marketing manager with Heartland Luxury Homes in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Bette and Leonardo Chumaceiro, of Palm Coast, and Keely and Kent Willmann, of Longmont, Colorado, announce the engagement of Mahala and Matthew. After celebrating their wedding in May with family and friends, the couple will set sail on an adventure in the Mediterranean, followed by establishing a home while stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California.
