Spring is right around the corner and the Port Orange Parks and Recreation Department is getting a jump start on outdoor activities with a Pop-up Park.
Parks and Rec will be joined by other city departments for the event, which will include an evening of sports including a soccer shoot-out, cornhole and giant jenga. The first 100 people will get a free hotdog, chips and a drink.
The event takes place at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, at Coraci Park, 5200 Coraci Blvd.

Benefit for Eva
The Original First Turn will be hosting a charity event to help raise funds for the family of Eva Kosluk who was diagnosed with Leukemia. Funds will help support the 8-year-old girl's single mother who has not been able to work due to homeschooling and daily hospital visits.
The event will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Free vision, blood pressure screenings to be offered
Daytona State College nursing students will be giving free blood pressure, vision, height, weight and BMI screenings between 8 a.m. and noon on Friday, Feb. 23.
Residents can help teach future nurses and know their numbers at the free event at the Port Orange YMCA, 4701 City Center Parkway.

Port Orange library introduces Teen Book Club
Teens are invited to join a new book club just for them. The first meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at the Port Orange
Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle.
The Teen Book Club is a teen-led group for students in grades 6-12. Members will discuss the selected books for each month and engage in other planned activities, including art.
