A pair of area football players shined at Nike's The Opening, a camp that showcases some of the country's top high school football talent, in Miami. Spruce Creek cornerback Travon Killins and Atlantic outside linebacker Tyler Berrong, who each received invitations to compete in the event, both had solid performances.
Killins, who will be entering his senior year in the fall, clocked a 4.57-second 40-yard dash time, which placed him in the top 10 of those who ran. Berrong, who transferred to Atlantic following two seasons at Spruce Creek, was rated 97.08 by the camp. The average was 74.91.
Killins, who is now rated as a three-star prospect by various recruiting services, holds offers from Central Florida, Memphis, Iowa State and Arkansas State. Berrong holds offers from Florida and North Carolina.
