Palm Coast employees collected 1,426 pounds of food for Grace Community Food Pantry. The drive was organized by the city’s Boosting All Morale Team. The community development department led with the most donated: 307 pounds of food. The pantry is located at 245 Education Way, Bunnell.
The Flagler Woman’s Club will award multiple $2,000 scholarships to male and female graduating seniors in all areas of study, including theatre, art, music and trade schools. Each applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Flagler County for a minimum of one year and have a financial need and qualify for acceptance to a college or a trade school. Printed applications are now available at the Flagler Palm Coast and Matanzas High Schools’ Guidance Departments and the Flagler County Library in Palm Coast. The application deadline is January 27. Imagine School at Town Center held a month of service in December. For the annual “Fourth Grade Gives Back,” students identified school and community needs and then worked to fulfill these needs. This year, students found a need for supplies in special areas and the clinic.
The entire fourth grade sold cocoa during eight mornings to raise money to purchase a permanent basketball hoop for PE, race tracks for the Speedology Lab in STEAM, boom whackers for music and supplies for the clinic.
In January, Imagine School at Town Center is encouraging students school-wide to read Mr. Popper’s Penguins with their family. The “Read With Me” initiative was launched in October with the first book being “Because of Winn Dixie” in November/December. Discussion questions were made available, and the school also hosted a movie night in December to show the movie based on the book.
The congregation at St. Mark by the Sea Evangelical Lutheran Church in Palm Coast came together to raise several hundred dollars to buy gifts for mothers and children who are involved with Family Life Center, which supports victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
The church’s men’s club spearheaded the fundraiser to benefit FLC.
