For 17 years, Steve Lampkin has been inspiring kids at the Port Orange library by teaching them the game of chess. Students attend the Kid's Chess Club weekly to socialize and hone their skills. Lampkin, director of CHESS (Creating Higher Educational Success in Schools), has been advocating for chess to be implemented in all local schools, to improve thinking skills.
