POPD: Student confesses to threat of violence made against Horizon Elementary

Police determined the threat was unrelated to the vandalism at the school.

The Port Orange Police Department has concluded its investigation regarding a threat of violence made at Horizon Elementary School on Wednesday, Jan. 17, according to a POPD press release. 

Through the course of the police department's investigation, it was determined the threat was made by a 7-year-old who is a student at the school and that this incident is unrelated to the vandalism that occurred a few days prior.

The student confessed to writing the threat and stated he did so as a prank. School administrators have suspended the student and the parents have been contacted.

There will be no charges filed on the student.
