To recognize employees who have gone “above and beyond to protect and serve our community,” Sheriff Rick Staly is hosting the Quarterly Awards Ceremony, according to a news release by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

The event will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Sheriff’s Operations Center, located at 901 E. Moody Blvd. in Bunnell.

Deputy Philip Conway, who saved a woman after she was pinned following a traffic crash, will be presented with a lifesaving award. Conway and Cpl. Joe Barile removed the windshield of the vehicle, and Conway pulled the woman to safety.

In addition, Palm Coast Taco Bell will honor agency members who caught a suspect who attempted to rob the fast food restaurant at gunpoint through the drive-thru window on Dec. 26. All agency members involved will receive a Unit Citation from Staly.

Seventy employees will be recognized in the categories of certificate of commendation, distinguished service certificate, employee of the month, years of service and so on.

“The men and women of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office do an exceptional job day and night,” Staly said in a release. “I’m honored to be able to highlight so many members of our agency and let them know that their great work does not go unnoticed.”
