Someone broke into the Mobil Station at the intersection of Pine Lakes Parkway and Wynnfield Drive in the early morning hours of July 4, stealing cigarettes.

Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies were called out to the station at 295 Pine Lakes Parkway at about 1:30 a.m. when the station's burglary alarm went off. The front door glass was shattered, and there were cigarette boxes all over the floor. The burglar was gone.

When the store's owner arrived, deputies checked the store's surveillance camera footage, which showed a male smash the front door window "with an unknown object or possibly his hand and make entry inside with a black trash can" that he'd brought in his car, according to a Sheriff's Office case report.

The burglar — who was wearing a grey mask, black gloves, tan pants and a long-sleeved black shirt — then jumped the counter and filled the trash can with cartons of cigarettes.

He left in a white Chevy Impala. It had no license plate, and no one else appeared to be in the car.

A Bunnell Police Department officer told deputies that the crime appeared similar to a recent burglary in Bunnell at the Citgo station on U.S. 1 at the State Road 100 overpass.
