The word from the bird is The Windsor of Palm Coast held a 1950s-themed Sock Hop for its senior residents and their families, complete with poodle skirts, leather jackets, cold Coca-Cola in bottles and doo-wop entertainment by Debbie Owen and Tony T. You dig?
The assisted-living and memory care facility, located at 50 Town Court, took guests back in time for the festive night on Thursday, July 19.
Angel Helland, life enrichment director of The Windsor, said the evening was created to entertain residents and encourage them and their families to pick up a survey and complete an online review of the facility, as a part of its "We are listening" campaign. She added that feedback from their residents is important to them. While they have some type of themed party about once a month, this one was more elaborate than most, she said.
Many residents ditched their wheelchairs, walkers and seats on chairs to dance with friends and family to the lively music reminiscent of the "fabulous 50s." When Tony T sang classic '50s hits, like songs by Bill Haley, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, Windsor resident Yolanda Bolduc's eyes lit up as she swayed along to the beat — a smile on her face from ear to ear.
